Different types of dental implants in India

Cosmetic dentistry has come a long way in India. There was a time when there were very few facilities in Mumbai or Delhi that offered services of cosmetic dentistry. People who wanted prosthetics in their oral cavity had to travel abroad. However, in the last decade, cosmetic dentistry has witnessed tremendous development in the Indian market. Today, you would find a number of dental clinics offering the facility of cosmetic dentistry.

Dental Implants

The most common form of cosmetic dentistry is dental implants. Dental implants refer to the implantation of prosthetics in the jaw bone to hold together a damaged teeth set or to fill gaps between the teeth. It is an elaborate process that involves incising the bone, drilling and tissue replacement. The treatment is not only time-consuming but can be quite painful too. Nevertheless, in many cases such as accidents, dental implants in India seem to be the only way to restore the beauty of one’s oral cavity.

The usage of local anaesthesia has definitely helped in suppressing the pain associated with a dental implant treatment, but the period after the surgery can be difficult for the patient. The person who has got fresh dental implants is bound to follow a liquid diet and is required to refrain from too cold or too hot food. Moving the jaw bone can also cause great pain at times. But, the procedure of dental implant is quite safe in itself except a few side effects.

The most common side effect of all is temporary paralysis of the lower jaw. This happens because during the bone grafting procedure, the mandibular nerve which runs below the lower teeth set might get hurt. This might cause the nerve to go in shock resulting in a feeling of numbness in the chin and the lips. This condition might continue from a few weeks to a few months. Although you regain your sense positively after a few months, you might face problems like lack of sensitivity to heat and cold during the period of paralysis.

However, most present-day dental clinics offering different types of dental implants have the most hi-tech equipment for the surgery and take ample precautions in order to avoid any such nerve damage. You should always consult with a dentist who is reputed in the medical market, if you want to go for dental implants.
